"The Visitation of John Brown" candle

Three Lawrence Originals - Free State Brewery, Grandstand Drinkware, and Waxman Candles have shared in the creation of this heritage piece. While referencing the iconic John Steuart Curry painting, this image is truly anchored in the 600 block of Massachusetts Street in Downtown Lawrence. The legendary John Brown rallied the Lawrence defenders in 1856 as they mobilized in the middle of Mass Street. And the tornado from the Curry “Tragic Prelude” also touched the 600 block, destroying much of the block in 1911.
